Just something to think about... no worries, it only affects our children:
“Sensitivity: the absence of any expectation that learning will not take place or that it will be difficult. Where does sensitivity come from? Every child is born with it. Children do not need to be taught that they can learn; they have this implicit expectation which they demonstrate in their earliest learning about language and about the world. Experience teaches them that they have limitations, and unfortunately, experience often teaches them this unnecessarily. Children believe their brains are all-potent until they learn otherwise.”

Especially impactful for me is the part at the end about Gillian Lynne and educating our children and students for a future that we might not even see.
Furthermore, this issue is only worsened for minority, linguistically or culturally diverse students, low SES students, at-risk students, etc. It even negatively affects students who DO figure out how to play the school game...
We can't solve the problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.

Also, see this blog post about creativity and this inquiry about dancing. They are thought provoking.

| This is a little bit of my creativity. I did get strange(ish) looks from people when I pulled out my camera to take pictures. |
